Heavy rain, gusty winds, and cold temps hang around through the weekend

Good evening,
We have a pretty active weather weekend ahead of us here in Middle Georgia with heavy rain, gusty winds, and chilly temps hanging out through the next few days.

The weekend begins as rain starts to fill into Middle Georgia from the west. It will start in the northern counties and heavy rain will filter into our southern counties. Winds will really pick up through the afternoon and we will be seeing gusts up to 30 mph.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday will see the heaviest rain in the area. When you combine saturated soils with heavy rain it is very possible we could see a few downed trees.

In total we are expecting 2-4″ of rainfall across Middle Georgia through the weekend. A Flood Watch has been issued for the area until Sunday at 7pm for the risk of both localized and river flooding.

As far as winter weather, don’t get your hopes too high. A wintry mix will be possible into the early morning hours of both Monday and Tuesday. Still expect the possibility of changes to the forecast through the weekend.
