Heavy rain Friday, possible flurries Saturday morning

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Quite an active forecast for Friday and Saturday morning. Let’s begin with the rain. Then, we’ll talk about Saturday’s snow potential for Middle Georgia.

Heavy rain is blasting through our area. The fortunate news is the heaviest rain is contained mostly with a single line of showers/storms. Once that moves out, we’re looking at an overcast day with isolated showers, mostly light. Highs today will be cool in the mid 50s.

Residual rain remains Saturday morning with temperatures in the upper atmosphere being so cold, there is the possibility for snow flurries. We’ve extended the line a bit farther to the south to include portions of Middle Georgia from Butler to Warner Robins to Wrightsville.

I want to emphasize that these are flurries, and we are not expecting accumulation. No snowballs or snowmen, unfortunately.

BUT, for those who like snow, it’s nice that we’re seeing a possibility of flurries early Saturday morning nonetheless. Saturday afternoon looks mostly cloudy, a bit more sun, and VERY chilly with a high of 46. Sunday will be dry and sunny with a high of 53. Also, say hello to the returning 20s, as overnight lows Saturday and Sunday night will be 27 and 26, respectively.
