Health district opens drive-up sample collection for COVID-19
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The North Central Health District’s first drive-up sample collection for COVID-19 testing opened in Macon Friday.
The first collection site is located at the Macon-Bibb County Health Department.
Public Information Officer, Michael Hokanson says residents must call in order to request a referral for the test.
This location is only open to those referred by a doctor for testing.
“We are able to test individuals that are experiencing symptoms as well as critical infrastructure workers, healthcare workers, and a few other groups that are being prioritized. But once again, people must go through the referral process,” Hokanson said.
The number to call to request a referral is 1-844-987-0099
Deputies, Georgia State Patrol, and the National Guard will be onsite to monitor traffic if needed.
Anyone that shows up without a referral will be turned away.
