GSHF Inductees Honored During Jacket Ceremony

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame welcomed its newest members Friday night.

James Brooks, Bobby Cremins, Jim Hughes, Homer Rice, Hollis Stacy, Chester Webb and Scott Woerner were all recognized for their contributions to various sports during a private jacket ceremony. Frank Thomas couldn’t make the event, but will be at the main induction ceremony Saturday.

Local radio show host, Bill Shanks was honored to emcee the event.

“We’re here to honor the best athletes in the state of Georgia, coaches, players and for it to be in our town is truly a privilege. It’s not in Columbus, Augusta or Atlanta, it’s here in Macon….we don’t have very many big events like this in Macon for sports, so this is a huge event to have these honorees here,” said Shanks.

Fan Fest is from 1 to 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and admission is free. The main induction ceremony will take place Saturday night starting at 6 o’clock at the Macon City Auditorium.
