Group Protests Bibb School District at Bibb County Courthouse
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An organization aimed at protecting teachers from abusive administrators was in Macon on Wednesday, protesting the controversial ‘Macon Miracle Plan’.
The Metro Association of Classroom Educators, or MACE for short, held up neon signs in front of the Bibb County Courthouse in protest of Bibb Schools’ superintendent Romain Dallemand’s strategic plan, which received both widespread acclaim and criticism earlier this year.
They say the plan is a joke and it won’t do the school system any good.
“We think that Dallemand’s leadership lacks greatly and we think Dallemand must go,” says Dr. John Trotter, chairman and CEO of the organization. “We know, first of all, you can’t have good learning conditions until you first have good teaching conditions. The teaching conditions are deplorable right here in Macon.”
The group tells 41NBC that when they finished picketing, they met with several Bibb County teachers to discuss the working conditions within the school system.
