Groundbreaking Set for Bibb Juvenile Justice Center

justicecenterMACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony for Bibb County’s Thomas Jackson Juvenile Justice Center is set for Friday morning in downtown Macon.

According to a release from the Bibb County Board of Commissioners, the event will happen at 10:00 a.m. on McKenna Avenue, between Oglethorpe Street and Hawthorne Street.

The release says the center is a SPLOST-funded project that will help to provide better coordination of courts, probation, rehabilitation and prevention services for juvenile offenders and children of abuse.

The new center is expected to cost about $6 million.

Construction was originally set to start earlier this month but getting contracts completed and preparing the site off Oglethorpe Road delayed the process.

The building was designed by Cooper Carry Architects and BTBB, Inc., and construction will be done by Warren Associates, Inc.
