Groundbreaking Ceremony Held at St. Joseph’s Catholic School for New Gym
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A big crowd gathered a Saint Joseph’s Catholic School to break ground on a brand new addition to campus.
A new 18,000 square foot building will add a few additional classrooms, plus give the kids an indoor gymnasium. The principal says this project began in the early 2000’s when a group of parents came together to form the “labor of love,” but that campaign didn’t raise enough money to get the project going.
“Now we have “united in love” and in just a few short months we were able to get the money, millions of dollars to build this building so it really has been a treasure of love from everyone together,” says Dr. Kaye Hlavaty, Principal of St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
Dr. Hlavaty says this will be the first new building added to the campus since the 1950s. Construction is expected to be complete by next September.
