Grits Café Reopens After Fire

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One local restaurant is back in business after a fire gutted it’s building less than a year ago.

Grits Café in Forsyth was open for more than a decade before a devastating blaze destroyed it’s building on the square back in March.

Over the weekend, owners welcomed new customers and familiar faces during it’s a grand reopening. Grits Café was fully booked opening night.

“It’s the people, the service, the food, you can come in and they know you by name,” said Linda Watts, a Grits Café regular.

The upscale spot is known for serving up southern food with a flair. Now it’s back in business, with a new look and the same menu favorites.

“The pork chops are awesome,” Watts said, “and they have the fried green tomatoes BLT.”

“We’ve been suffering deprivation for almost a year,” said Jimmie Powell, another loyal Grits Café customer.
