Gradual recovery in temperatures for Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures are on track to top out in the low 50’s across most of the area today with mostly sunny skies. Winds will slacken a bit which will help with

the wind chills. Any areas that still have snowfall on untreated roadways are likely to see patchy black ice. At the start of Tuesday, surface high pressure will be nudged offshore by a series of shortwaves rounding the base of a broader trough with a cold front in tow. As the front makes its way across the Southeast over the course of the day Tuesday into Wednesday, chances for showers will return for much of north and Middle Georgia. Rainfall totals will remain on the low end areawide, with most areas forecast to see just a quarter to a third of an inch. Behind the front, northwesterly flow sets up at the mid-levels, paving the way for mostly clear and dry conditions for the remainder of the week. Highs will be in the mid 40s to low 50s each day, with lows in the 20s to 30s (in the 40s on Wednesday morning before the influence of the front is felt).
