Governor’s High Demand Career Initiative held roundtable defense discussion

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Governor Nathan Deal’s High Demand Career Initiative group
held a roundtable forum at Central Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins, Wednesday.

State representatives say they want to hear exactly what type of skills companies like Lockheed Martin are looking for from the next generation.

The Vice Chancellor of the University System of Georgia , Cecil Staton, says educating students now, for future careers at Robins Air Force Base is crucial.

“It is served largely by institutions in our state who educate engineers, scientist, mathematicians and physicist,” said Staton. “These are very technical often high end jobs. It’s very important that we are preparing our students.”

Staton says their goal is to continue to make Georgia the number one state in America to do business.
