Gordon Police Make Drug Arrest

michael amersonGORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Jones County man who had warrants out for his arrest and was on the run for months was arrested in Gordon on drug charges.

According to Gordon police investigator Andy Hester, the Ivey Police Department had a theft by taking warrant out for 26-year-old Michael Amerson of Gray. Hester says he had been hiding for a couple of months.

On Sunday, GPD received a tip that Amerson was hiding out in a home at the EZ Living Mobile Home Park. When the officer arrived, he found Amerson in the back room and arrested him. The officer also found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Amerson is charged with theft by taking, a misdemeanor, possession and use of drug related objects, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of methamphetamine, all felony charges.

As of Monday morning, he is booked in the Wilkinson County jail on a $1,500 bond.
