Gordon Mayor refuses to sign state Attorney General letter admitting violation of open meetings act
GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Attorney General’s Office wants Gordon Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue to sign a letter admitting she violated the Open Meetings Act.
The memorandum of understanding claims the mayor didn’t provide records requested by a local newspaper within three days, didn’t give all of the requested documents, didn’t tell the newspaper the copies would cost more than $25 and charged more than 10 cents per page.
Whipple-Lue’s attorney said he told the attorney general’s office Whipple-Lue isn’t signing the letter. He believes the concerned citizens of Gordon are trying to come up with a new way to remove the mayor from office.
