Gordon citizens file ‘motion to reconsider’ Whipple-Lue back in office
GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Gordon Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue will return to her duties after July 2.
The State Court of Appeals granted the motion last week preventing a hearing to suspend her from office.
This week, Concerned Citizens of Gordon asked the same court to rethink that decision with by filing a ‘motion to reconsider.’
The group’s lawyer, Devlin Cooper hopes to have a ruling on the motion for reconsideration, but the turn around time for the court to make a decision normally takes longer than an emergency motion would, which is 24 hours.
If Cooper and the citizens are not successful, they plan to file more appeals.
The official trial date is set for August 1st. However, all appeals have to be taken care through the court system before a trial can take place.
