Goodwin Leads Norcross Past Hillgrove 60-48
MACON, Ga. (AP) – Brandon Goodwin scored 22 points to lead Norcross to a 60-48 win over Hillgrove Saturday in the GHSA Class AAAAAA boys state championship game.
Ricky Madison scored 12, and Khalen Pinkett added 11 points for the Blue Devils (30-4), who won their fifth state championship, all since 2006.
Norcross became the first school in GHSA history to win state championships in football, boys basketball and girls basketball in the same school year.
Keith Ray’s 13 points led Hillgrove (26-7).
The Blue Devils trailed by 11 points early in the second quarter, but narrowed the deficit to a point at halftime.
The Hawks trailed by two with 4:56 to play, then the Blue Devils closed the game on a 13-3 run.
Norcross shot 57.9 percent (11 of 19) in the second half and outscored Hillgrove 32-12 in the paint.
The Hawks shot 37.5 percent (15 of 40) from the field.
