GHSA Executive Director Robin Hines confirmed Friday morning that the 2024 High School Football Championship games will be played December 16-18, five days later than last season.

GEORGIA – (41NBC/WMGT) – GHSA Executive Director Robin Hines confirmed Friday morning that the 2024 High School Football Championship games will be played December 16-18, five days later than last season. The five playoff rounds will have Thanksgiving week off for the first time since 1905 due to scheduling conflicts.
The playoff dates will take place as follows:
Nov. 8-9: First round
Nov. 15: Second round
Nov. 22: Third round
Dec. 6: Semifinals
Dec. 16-18 Finals
In more GHSA news, the overtime format will see significant changes. The new format mandates a two-point attempt starting in the second overtime period, a shift from the previous rule where this occurred in the third overtime. Beginning with the third overtime period, each possession will now be a single two-point try from the 3-yard line, eliminating drives from the 15-yard line. This means the winner will be determined by just one play from the 3-yard line.
