Get Involved: Child Abuse Prevention Month
This month kicks off National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the 25th anniversary of Houston County’s Rainbow House, where they help child sexual abuse victims.· Rainbow House Executive Director, Kem Sanderson, joined us on the 41NBC news at 6pm Friday to bring awareness to the dangers of child abuse here in Middle Georgia.
Sanderson says 285 children were abused in Houston County in 2010.· Reporting suspected victims and predators in your community can help decrease that number.· www.rainbowhousecrc.org
The Executive Director says one of the biggest misconceptions about sexual abuse is the image of the predator.· Sanderson says it’s not usually the man in a trench coat lurking by the playground, but someone you encounter on a daily basis.
You can get involved if Middle Georgia as many community events are held to bring awareness to child abuse.
