Gerhart Wins Another ARCA Race At Daytona
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Bobby Gerhart has won his eighth ARCA series race at Daytona International Speedway.
Gerhart, who started 42nd after failing a post-qualifying inspection, passed several rapidly slowing cars a few hundred feet from the finish line Saturday for his third consecutive victory at the storied speedway.
Brandon McReynolds, who led the previous 62 laps and was in line for his first ARCA victory when the green flag dropped for a two-lap sprint, ran out of gas on the frontstretch and faded to 11th. Chris Windom also came up short on fuel and finished eighth.
Gerhart passed both of them on the outside and took the checkered flag again in the first race of Speedweeks.
Drew Charlson finished second, just ahead of Will Kimmel, Steve Blackburn and Mark Thompson. Griffin’s Max Gresham finished sixth.
