Georgia’s Tax-free Weekend Returns Friday

Shoppers, get your wallets out. Georgia’s tax free holiday starts Friday and continues Saturday! After a two year absence, you can now get back to school items, free of state sales tax.

In the way of clothes- you can buy pants, shirts, shoes, socks, underwear- all the essentials.
But items like makeup, jewelry, purses, and briefcases are not included. These tax free items must cost less than $100 each.

As far as computers and electronics go, you can purchase the actual computer tax free, as well as printers, flash drives and CDs, memory, and even E-readers! But the tax free sale doesn’t go for items like video game systems, regular batteries, cell phones, MP3 players, or TVs. These items must be less than $1,000 each.

On the school supply side, you can buy nearly everything from pencils, pens, highlights, and paper,
to glue, crayons, files, organizers, and bookbags all free of sales tax. Items not exempt from tax include medical items, janitorial supplies, and books that aren’t directly school related. And each school supply item must be under $20.
