Georgians Accused of Sex-for-Van Deal Sentenced
MACON, Ga. – Authorities say a Central Georgia couple has been sentenced in connection with charges that they traded sex with their 14-year-old daughter for monthly payments on the family minivan.
Oconee Circuit District Attorney Timothy Vaughn said the 37-year-old mother pleaded guilty to child molestation and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Vaughn said the woman didn’t physically abuse her daughter, but admitted trading sex with her for the 1998 Dodge Caravan.
Vaughn said the girl’s 39-year-old father and former car dealership manager Robert Wayne Bearden both pleaded guilty to child molestation and were sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The Associated Press does not identify victims of sexual abuse and is not identifying the parents to protect the teen.
