Georgia-Vandy Meet Again After Wild Finish In 2011
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – Georgia and Vanderbilt are downplaying the chance of any bad blood carrying over from last year.
The Bulldogs held on for 33-28 win after the Commodores blocked a punt in the closing seconds. The emotions of the tight game boiled over afterward, with Vanderbilt coach James Franklin getting into a confrontation on the field with Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.
The fifth-ranked Bulldogs (3-0) insisted Tuesday that they’re only concerned with preparing for the first in a stretch of seven straight Southeastern Conference games. Franklin is setting a similar tone, saying last year “was an emotional, passionate, great game.” But he’s focused on the contest Saturday between the hedges.
The Commodores (1-2) haven’t defeated a ranked SEC team since 2008. They’ve only beaten Georgia once in the last 17 years.
