Georgia Tech Tops NC State 6-5 In 15 Innings
DURHAM, NC – Mott Hyde stole home in the 15th inning to lift Georgia Tech to a 6-5 victory over North Carolina State in the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament.
In a game that ended at about 12:20 a.m. Friday, Hyde started the Yellow Jackets’ rally with a one-out double off Ethan Ogburn. He advanced to third on a groundout by Sam Dove and scored the go-ahead run on a straight steal of home.
Matt Skole homered and drove in two runs for third-seeded Georgia Tech (40-18), which improved to 1-1 in the round-robin tournament and remained alive in Pool B.
The Yellow Jackets tied it at 5 on Zane Evans’ RBI single in the eighth. That came after the Wolfpack (34-24) scored three runs in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead. No. 7 seed N.C. State fell to 1-1 in pool play.
