Georgia Power Offers Tips to Keep You Safe During Severe Weather

ATLANTA (41NBC/WMGT) – As the unofficial start of the spring and summer storm season begins, Georgia Power wants to remind its customers to stay safe and informed.

Here are a few tips to help keep you safe:

– Be sure to charge your cellphone before severe weather hits. If you have a landline phone, they can be affected should your area be hit with a power outage.

– During a storm, be sure to stay indoors. Check your phone, radio, or television for updates and don’t leave shelter until the threat has passed.

– After the storm, never attempt to pull tree limbs, telephone or cable lines, and especially downed power lines. You can call (888) 891-0938 to report downed power lines, call the local authorities, or even dial 911.
