Georgia woman accused of posing as nurse in multiple states
Authorities say Shannon Womack used multiple identities to work at medical facilities, including in Georgia

(CNN/KDKA)- A woman listed in Georgia’s Nursing Imposter Alerts is accused of working under false credentials at medical facilities across several states, including Pennsylvania.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Shannon Nicole Womack is under investigation for using multiple aliases and Social Security numbers to obtain nursing positions. Authorities say she posed as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), and RN supervisor without holding valid credentials.
John Walsh, the district attorney in Washington County, Pennsylvania, condemned the accused imposter. “This is a vile act or acts… Not only taking advantage of older citizens in this Commonwealth, but them not receiving the care that they need, nor the medication that they need, because of someone,” Walsh said. He added that put Womack in a position to defraud patients and employers.
Pennsylvania traffic stop leads to discovery
Trooper Rocco Gagliardi with the Pennsylvania State Police said that Womack used the identities and nursing certifications of four confirmed nurses from Southern states, including Georgia. Officials said she worked at various facilities in Pennsylvania and is linked to employment from Georgia to Connecticut.
State police began investigating Womack after a traffic stop in Cecil Township, Pennsylvania, in April. A search of the vehicle revealed multiple forms of identification, medical records, and prescription medications connected to nursing home residents.
Womack is listed on Georgia’s official alert list for nursing imposters. No specific Georgia facility names or charges have been publicly released in connection to this investigation.
Authorities warn facilities to check records
Authorities said Womack worked shifts at several healthcare centers in Pennsylvania. In some cases, she was placed on do-not-retain lists for misconduct, poor performance, or allegations of medication theft.
Anyone who believes Womack may have worked at their facility is urged to contact local authorities.
