PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the annual event will feature traditional rodeo favorites including bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling and women’s barrel racing.

Organizers say the indoor atmosphere inside Reeves Arena is part of what makes the Perry stop special for competitors and fans alike, often drawing strong crowds throughout the weekend.

“They’ll see the standard six events, ” said Marty Barnes, the 2nd generation owner of Barnes PRCA Rodeo. “The men’s events of the PRC are the bareback riding saddle bronc riding bull riding and then timed events of tiedown roping, team roping and steer wrestling. We also have the women’s barrel racing.”

In addition to the professional competition, families can enjoy activities for children outside the arena before each performance, including mutton busting and other youth riding events.

Opening night on Thursday will also include giveaway bags for the first 100 attendees, split between the south and north entrances.

Tickets are currently on sale, and organizers encourage fans to purchase early as large crowds are expected.

The Georgia National Rodeo runs February 19–21 in Perry.
