Georgia Military College welcomes new president Maj. Gen. Terrence McKenrick
McKenrick was hired to replace former president Lt. Gen. Caldwell IV in April, and began his tenure on July 1.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – More than three decades ago, Maj. Gen. Terrence McKenrick was serving in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. McKenrick says he wanted to become a part of Lt. Gen. William Caldwell IV’s (Ret.) infantry battalion, but was unable to do so then. McKenrick’s service came full circle last month, as he succeeded Caldwell as the President of Georgia Military College.
“To come in after him is a little bit intimidating,” McKenrick said. “But he has really set us on a great glide path. And my goal is to continue that trajectory.”
McKenrick was hired to replace Caldwell in April, and began his tenure on July 1. According to GMC, 94% of its 2025 junior college graduates are attending post-secondary institutions. McKenrick applauded the work of his predecessor over the past 12 years. McKenrick says he’ll hit the ground running, with plans to increase enrollment, graduation, and revenue for GMC’s K-12 prep school, junior college, and the Global Online Leadership Program.

“I feel like I’m very well prepared to do this work and very excited to lead this organization,” McKenrick said.
While he brings a host of new ideas to GMC, McKenrick says the mission of preparing future generations of leadership remains the same. He says GMC sent surveys to students, faculty and staff and alumni to measure areas of growth and room for improvement under his leadership.
McKenrick compared his new role to commanding a military unit due to the number of people and resources he’s responsible for overseeing and managing. He says he’s extremely grateful for the opportunity, and plans to leave GMC better off than how he found it.
“All of that makes it an incredible challenge and opportunity,” McKenrick said. And I consider this job really the opportunity of a lifetime.”
