Georgia Lawmakers Final Day in Session
ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In the final hours of the 2012 session, Georgia state senators and representatives were handed a stack of bills inches thick to pass or let die. Middle Georgia’s lawmakers are confident that what they’ve accomplished this session will make big impact on the region.
State Representative James Beverly’s House Bill 1265 was adopted into Georgia law. It’s the first for the representative in his freshman year. The bill creates a community enhancement authority to tackle poverty in areas of need.
“Let’s do a blight study, an asset map, and then let’s get involved with the community, what they want the community to look like with and figure out the new economic anchors for the future generations that will turn this thing around,” says State Representative James Beverly, District 139.
