Portions of Middle Georgia now included in Winter Storm Watch
National Weather Service warns of significant icing, power outages, and dangerous travel across portions of Middle and North Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The National Weather Service has expanded the Winter Storm Watch to include portions of 41NBC coverage area, including Baldwin, Hancock, Jones, and Washington Counties.
According to the NWS. a large swath of Georgia could see significant icing from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning, raising the risk of widespread power outages, tree damage, and nearly impossible travel conditions, according to forecasters.
Areas under the watch could see ice accumulations of up to four-tenths of an inch, the National Weather Service said.
Officials warn that the weight of ice could bring down trees and power lines, leading to power outages. Travel conditions could become extremely dangerous, with officials cautioning that travel may be nearly impossible at times.
The hazardous conditions could also impact the Monday morning commute.
Residents urged to prepare
Forecasters urge residents to closely monitor the latest forecasts and updates as conditions evolve.
People are encouraged to delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drivers should use extreme caution and consider carrying a winter storm kit, including items such as tire chains, booster cables, a flashlight, shovel, blankets, extra clothing, water, and a first aid kit in case they become stranded.
Counties under the Winter Storm Watch (issued at 12:43pm. 1/22/2026) include Baldwin, Butts, Carroll, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Glascock, Greene, Gwinnett, Hancock, Haralson, Henry, Jasper, Jefferson, Jones, Morgan, Newton, North Fulton, Paulding, Polk, Putnam, Rockdale, South Fulton, Spalding, Taliaferro, Walton, Warren and Washington.
