Georgia Hires UAB’s Will Friend as OL Coach

ATHENS, Ga.- Will Friend, who began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Georgia, is the Bulldogs’ new offensive line coach.

Coach Mark Richt said Monday he has hired Friend from Alabama-Birmingham, where he was offensive line coach under coach Neil Callaway. Friend worked with Callaway, then the Georgia offensive line coach, as a graduate assistant in the 2003-04 seasons.

Friend, a former All-Southeastern Conference player at Alabama, coached at UAB for four years after two seasons at Gardner-Webb.

Friend replaces Stacy Searels, who last month left Georgia to become the offensive line coach at Texas. Searels also was Georgia’s running game coordinator.
