Georgia Grown food featured at Macon Farmer’s Market
Macon State Farmer’s Market was filled with nearly 40 vendors from across the state selling products either grown or manufactured in Georgia.
The items included all kinds of fruits, vegetables, pecans, meat, cheeses, fresh corn meal and specialty products.
“I love seeing people actually wanting to meet, look face to face with somebody and shake their hand and do that transaction, here at the market,” says Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture, Gary Black. “Then you start building reliability. You’re not just buying something off the shelf. You’re buying it from the person that produced it.”
Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert was among the many consumers at the farmer’s market, which also featured information about the Department of Agriculture’s Georgia Grown program.
