Georgia Dome Implosion Happening Monday

ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  Just over a quarter of a century after it opened, the Georgia Dome will be reduced to rubble.

It will be imploded this morning and turned into a parking and green space.

The Georgia Dome was once home to the Atlanta Falcons, but the team now calls Mercedes Benz Stadium Home.

The Dome opened in March of 1992 and at the time was the largest covered stadium in the world.

Its the only facility to host a Super Bowl, The Olympics, and the NCAA Final Four.
