The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is sending crews to the coast, preparing for potential damage and rescue missions from Debby.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is sending crews to the coast, preparing for potential damage and rescue missions from Debby. The storm made landfall in Florida early Monday morning as a category one hurricane. Debby was later downgraded to a tropical storm as it moved through Georgia and is expected to impact parts of Middle Georgia.
DNR has 50 people ready to help with the aftermath.
“We have teams that are ready to respond to clear roads, perform water rescues, provide security and delivery any type of critical supplies needed to the area,” Georgia DNR Chief Communications Manager Kaitlin Goode said.
She adds they’re working with Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security Agency to provide safety and rescue measures.
“We encourage people to follow their guidance, and if people do need to evacuate, the state parks and historic sites division is prepared to take displaced people and pets, including horses,” she said.
