Town hall uproar: Georgia congressman grilled on Trump policies
Rep. Rich McCormick encountered boos as constituents questioned Trump-era policies and presidential power at a tense town hall.

ROSWELL, Georgia (CNN)- A Republican congressman from Georgia, Rep. Rich McCormick, encountered a vocal and frustrated audience during a town hall meeting Thursday night outside Atlanta.
Attendees pressed McCormick on the Trump administration’s early actions, raising concerns about executive power, cabinet appointments, and federal job cuts. The discussion grew heated when one constituent openly criticized former President Trump.
“What you, congressman, and your fellow congressmen, are going to do to rein in the megalomaniac in the White House?” one attendee asked, prompting cheers from the crowd.
McCormick responded by comparing concerns over presidential power to similar debates during President Biden’s tenure, stating, “When you talk about tyranny, when you talk about presidential power, I remember having the same discussion with Republicans when Biden was elected.” His remark was met with boos from the audience.
Throughout the town hall, McCormick repeatedly urged the crowd to remain civil, asking them to stop yelling as he attempted to maintain order.
McCormick, a doctor and military veteran, was first elected to Congress in 2022 and represents Georgia’s 6th Congressional District.
