Kroger has officially broken ground on a massive new Marketplace store in Perry. The 123,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in Spring 2027. To mark the occasion, Kroger is donating $10,000 to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. Shoppers at the current Perry Kroger can rest easy—the existing store will remain open throughout construction. Once completed, the new Marketplace will offer departments including floral, bakery, deli, meat, fresh produce, plus a drive-thru pharmacy, fuel center, and options for online ordering and grocery pick-up.
Bearfoot Tavern Expands in Downtown Macon
Downtown Macon’s Bearfoot Tavern is expanding its entertainment offerings. The bar and grill will soon open “Flight Time at Bearfoot” upstairs, featuring two golf simulator bays as well as flight and racing simulators. The new space promises a fully immersive experience, complete with a bar and food service. General Manager Mark Bell says the grand opening is set for March 6th. Memberships are available with pricing based on day and time, and hours will run Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 2 a.m., and Sunday until 9 p.m.
Bibb County School District Holds Recruitment Fair
The Bibb County School District is inviting job seekers to its annual recruitment fair this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at Westside High School, located at 2851 Heath Road. In addition to teaching positions, the district is hiring for roles in transportation, school nutrition, and more. Japan to Invest $600 Million in Georgia High-Tech Facility
In a major economic development, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that Japan will invest approximately $600 million in Georgia as part of a $550 billion U.S.-Japan trade deal. The funds will go toward building a state-of-the-art synthetic diamond facility operated by Element Six, a subsidiary of De Beers.
