GDOT to review pedestrian safety on Eisenhower Parkway in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Almost six years ago, a truck hit and killed a 12-year-old boy on the corner of Eisenhower Parkway and C Street in Macon. There’s still a memorial to remember the little boy outside of Murphey Homes. Pedestrian Fatality Review Board members said the high number of pedestrian involved accidents is the reason the State is coming to Macon.

Board members will work with the state on the road safety audit. It’s going to show what the problems are and the two groups will work together to fix them. Eisenhower Pkwy will be reviewed from Bloomfield Road to Broadway.

“Once this audit is finished and complete, we’ll ask GDOT to come look at other areas in Macon-Bibb such as Pio Nono Avenue, Emery Highway, Gray Highway, Mercer University and so forth and so on,” said Nigel Floyd, Macon-Bibb Pedestrian Fatality Review Board Member.

Floyd expects the audit to be finished in a few months.
