GCSU’s Stair South Classic to Help “Pack the Pantry” with Free Admission
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – Georgia College is offering free admission to this weekend’s women’s basketball Stair South Classic Tournament by bringing one canned-food item to the door to benefit Café Central in an effort to “pack the pantry.”
The tournament will feature a pair of games Friday and Saturday. The GC women’s basketball team (7-0) will be in action Friday at 6 p.m. against Tuskegee University (3-4), and then take on Limestone College (7-1) Saturday at 3 p.m. The other contests will pit UNC Pembroke (4-3) against Limestone Friday at 4 p.m., and Tuskegee against UNCP Saturday at 1 p.m.
Café Central, Milledgeville’s only soup kitchen provides a free hot meal once per week to Milledgeville’s homeless and hungry.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner’s Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams’ multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
