GC Women’s Soccer Earns National Academic Honor

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (GCSU RELEASE) – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the 2012-13 College Team Academic Award list recently, with the Georgia College soccer team earning a spot on the list.

To qualify for the honor, teams must post a GPA of at least 3.0 for the 2012-13 school year. Georgia College posted a 3.32 GPA a year ago.

This marks the second-straight season with a Team Academic Award for Bobcat Soccer, after owning a 3.21 GPA a season ago.

The Bobcats were one of six Peach Belt Conference (PBC) women’s soccer teams to earn the honor, joining Columbus State University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, UNC Pembroke, the University of Montevallo and Flagler College.

The GC soccer program finished 10-7-3 (5-4-2 PBC) this season, capping an amazing run through the PBC Tournament with the school’s first runner-up finish. Both Ashley Veilleux (Monroe, Ga.) and Abby Dalton (Macon, Ga.) each earned spots on the All-PBC teams, while Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) was placed on the Capital One Academic All-District Team.
