GC Volleyball Comes Up Short Against Stonehill College

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College women’s volleyball team (4-15) fell to Stonehill College (12-7) Saturday in a tough match that went to five sets.

The match bounced back and forth with the Bobcats taking the second set (25-14) and the fourth set (25-18). Stonehill took the first set (25-17), the third set (25-21) and the final fifth and deciding set (15-9).

Georgia College’s Rachel Rice (Johns Creek, Ga.) ended the night with a season best of 22 kills. She was aided by Rachel Reynolds (Marietta, Ga.) with 12 kills and Caroline Long (Roswell, Ga.) with 11.

Caroline Ham (Marietta, Ga.) led the squad with 23 digs. Rice contributed 13 digs and Ella Anastasiadas (Atlanta) added 11 digs.

Between the two teams, the statistical totals were extremely close. Stonehill bested the Bobcats in hitting percentage, .224 to .222. The Bobcats were able to beat out Stonehill 70 to 69 in total digs, and 60 to 58 in total kills. Unfortunately, the match game down to the play at the net and the Bobcats were unable to take control of that category. Meaghan Lee led Stonehill with a total of six blocks compared to the Bobcats having three tie with three blocks total.

The Bobcats’ next match will be on the road against GRU Augusta, Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m.
