GC Softball to Host Military Appreciation Day Thursday
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (GCSU ATHLETICS) – The Georgia College softball team (25-11, 9-3 PBC) will host Military Appreciation Day Thursday, March 21 at 5 p.m. when they take on No. 6 University of North Georgia (25-6, 5-1 PBC) at the Peeler Complex on West Campus.
All current and former service men and women are encouraged to attend. Free hot dogs will be available to anyone with a military ID.
The GMC Prep Color Guard and a national anthem singer will be on hand before the game. Father of Bobcat outfielder Kristen Humphries (Columbus, Ga.), Shawn Humphries, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Mr. Humphries is a veteran with eight years active duty and an additional 13 in the reserves as a Commander in the Navy.
Georgia College will be playing a ranked opponent at the Peeler Complex for the first time since they played No. 23 Armstrong in 2011 for Senior Day.
