GC Soccer’s Dalton Takes Bobcat Athlete of the Week Honors
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – Junior forward Abby Dalton (Macon, Ga.) grabs the Bobcat Athlete of the Week honors for her work on the soccer field, helping her Georgia College soccer team to their first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship appearance in school history this past weekend. Dalton and the Bobcats took runner-up against Clayton State University Sunday, Nov. 10.
The junior forward pushed Georgia College to the PBC Tournament semifinals with her late goal over Armstrong Atlantic State University. Her goal with just over two minutes left put the Bobcats in the PBC Semifinals for the third time in school history. Dalton and the Bobcats handed Armstrong their first home loss since 2008.
Adding to the Athlete of The Week award, Dalton also was named to the All-PBC Second team last week, her first all-conference honor. She was rewarded with her efforts in the PBC Tournament over the weekend with an All-Tournament Team award.
Dalton’s junior campaign will be a memorable one for the forward, where she became the all-time career assists leader for the Bobcats. She broke the record Oct. 26 against the University of Montevallo. Dalton finished the season with four goals and eight assists, leading Georgia College in assists for the year.
