GC Soccer Falls 2-0 to Pfeiffer in Home Opener

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – A pair of second-half goals sent the Georgia College soccer team (1-2) to defeat in the squad’s 2013 home opener, 2-0 to Pfeiffer University (2-3) Friday night.

After a scoreless first half where the Bobcats out-shot the Falcons 9-6, the first goal came just 5:26 into the second frame.

Brae Buster netted her second score of the year after a pass from Kayla Rodriguez.

The Falcons pushed it further out of reach in the 62nd minute, when a cross from Sarah Yates ricocheted off a Bobcat defender into the net for an own goal.

The Bobcats out-shot the Falcons 16-13, and had five corner kicks to Pfeiffer’s three.

Jessica Catapano (Alpharetta, Ga.) made five saves on the night, while Kate Halligan had the nine-save shutout.

The Bobcats were led by Ashley Veilleux (Monroe, Ga.) and Cayce Hamilton (Duluth, Ga.) in shots, each player tallying three.

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m., playing host to Shorter College.
