GBI: Weapon Recovered From Scene of Sunday Night Shootout, 5 Officers Fired Shots
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — GBI Special Agent Rodney Wall says a weapon was recovered from the scene of a Sunday night shootout in Warner Robins between a man and police.
Wall says six officers responded to the scene but only five fired shots at the man. The man, identified by his family as 50-year-old Anthony Rawls, was shot multiple times.There’s no information yet on how the shootout started.
Police say a 911 call came in Sunday evening involving a domestic dispute at 106 Huntwood Lane. Officers were told a man was threatening his wife and had a gun.
The WRPD says officers and Rawls exchanged shots. Rawls died on the scene.
Wall says the GBI investigation could take up to 30 days to complete. The GBI is waiting on the results of an autopsy.
