FVSU Homecoming 2012 Festivities Kick Off

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s homecoming time in the valley!

The Fort Valley State University President Dr. Larry Rivers literally kicked off homecoming with an opening kick Monday at the HPE Complex.

“He’s been practicing all week to get that kick right,” said Fort Valley State University’s Executive Vice President Dr. Canter Brown.

The royal court, football team, cheerleaders and marching band also participated and encouraged people “Experience the Valley”. The weeklong celebration will include comedy shows, a golf tournament, a step show and the highly anticipated concert featuring 2 Chainz. The rapper is scheduled to perform at the HPE Complex Wednesday night.

“It’s a pretty big deal here at Fort Valley,” said Fort Valley State University alum Dominique Nichols.

The homecoming football game against Concordia College begins Saturday at 2 p.m. This year’s homecoming theme is “Experience the Valley”.
