Friends of the Library hosts Annual Old Book Sale
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Friends of the Library is having its 48th Annual Old Book Sale starting on Thursday.
This is the time of the year where many book lovers are anxious to get their hands on the best deals.
“It’s books here that you can’t find. That you may not even know exist, and you don’t know unless you come here and look,” says Rodney Haven, who volunteers with the organization.
The sale is going on from March 3rd through March 6th. All types of books are available for kids and adults. Prices range from fifty cents to three dollars. People from all across the state are looking forward to the event.
“It’s a treasure hunt for me, so people that like books, they should come and partake in all of the wonderful books,” Haven adds.
Attending the event can save you a lot of money. Some buyers say they have purchased more than 400 books at one time.
“You can find books from that are hundreds year old. I think the oldest book I ever found was about 1639,” explains Timothy Rozier, who is a member of Friends of the Library.
“The volunteers – we love it, we come because we enjoy books but we also enjoy the people. Everyone is friendly, we talk about books, exchange lists. I mean, you’ll walk out with a list of authors that you didn’t know existed,” volunteer Christine Helms continues.
There are more than 100,000 books in 75 categories to choose from. Event organizers say they believe this will be another year of success.
