Friends of Tatnall Square Park Outlines Plans for Beautifying the Area

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Tatnall Square park is set to get some serious sprucing up and Thursday night, community members learned a little more about the plans.

Friends of Tatnall Square Park held a public meeting tonight at Centenary Church Fellowship Hall, right next to Mercer University. The group outlined plans for the area, including pillars at the Lawton Gateway and the Woodland Arboretum path. They also showed folks what the brand new trash bins will look like; they’ll be longer-lasting and will have locale-unique designs on them.

The hope is that these projects will help beautify the area and make it more attractive for visitors.

“We’ve been lucky enough to receive several grants from the Knight Neighborhood Challenge Grant,” says Heather Bowman Cutway, Associate Professor of Biology at Mercer. “And so we’re just informing the public of what we’re doing, trying to get some feedback on some of our projects, letting people know what we plan to do in the future.”
