Free Flu Vaccines for Bibb Co. Schools

Georgia is right in the middle of flu season, and to help combat spreading, the North Central Health District is teaming up with Bibb County schools to give students a free vaccine.

Dr. David Harvey of the N.C.H.D. says flu season in Middle Georgia usually lasts until the end of April.

He says when people are in close proximity with one another, like in a school or work place, the chances of spreading the virus increase.

Westside High School student Tianna Hollingshed said she was a little nervous to get the shot.

“I thought it was going to hurt but it didn’t. It was just a little pinch,” she said.

The vaccine is for students only, and they can choose whether or not they want it. Even though the vaccine is free for the students, Dr. Harvey suggests everyone get the cheap vaccine.
