Free dementia caregiver workshop coming to Macon

The “Dealing with Dementia” workshop will be held October 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Anderson Conference Center.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Caregivers of people living with dementia will soon have access to free tools, strategies and support through an upcoming workshop in Macon.

The “Dealing with Dementia” workshop will be held October 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, which is located at 3661 Eisenhower Parkway Suite MB102 in Macon . The event is open to family members and professional caregivers, but registration is required. Details are available at middlegeorgiarc.org.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, a time to raise awareness about dementia and support the more than 183,000 Georgians living with Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Darlene Williams of Macon, whose husband, JD Roberts, died in 2022 after an eight-year battle with dementia, now serves on the Georgia Alzheimer’s Association board. She works to raise awareness, provide education for caregivers and honor her husband’s legacy through advocacy and community outreach.
