MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – With the 2025 high school baseball season officially in the books, award season is in full swing. For First Presbyterian Day School’s Keon Johnson, the accolades continue to pile up.

On Wednesday, Johnson, a rising senior shortstop, was named the 2025 Gatorade Georgia Baseball Player of the Year, an honor that spans all classifications across both the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) and Georgia High School Association (GHSA). The prestigious award, now in its 40th year, recognizes not only athletic excellence but also academic achievement and exemplary character.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Vikings standout helped lead FPD to a 32-3 record and a berth in the GIAA Class AAAA state championship game. Johnson posted eye-popping numbers throughout the season, finishing with a .524 batting average, 10 home runs, 67 runs scored, 47 RBIs, and a .643 on-base percentage in 35 games. He also stole 25 bases and struck out just six times in 142 plate appearances.

The Gatorade honor adds to an already impressive list of awards for Johnson, who was also named to the 2025 GIAA All-State team and recognized as the 2025 District 6 Player of the Year.

Nationally, Johnson is currently ranked as the No. 6 prospect in the Class of 2026 by Prep Baseball. He is also listed as a Top 20 Major League Baseball Draft prospect and has committed to play collegiate ball at Vanderbilt University.
