MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fox City Witches Ride is hosting the 3rd Annual Witches Ride to benefit United in Pink.

The event is October 19 at The Den, 84 East Johnson St. in Forsyth. Registration begins at 4:45 p.m. and the ride begins at 5:30 p.m.

Co-Organizer of Fox City Witches Ride and breast cancer survivor, Susan Harrell, says the idea of this event began when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Harrell said she first heard of a witches ride 17 years ago in Alabama. Harrell and her friend liked the idea of it, but it never came to fruition.

In August of 2021, Harrell was diagnosed with breast cancer. Harrell’s friends decided to join together in this difficult time to bring her joy and friendship by doing their own witches ride.

Harrell was told to meet up with her friends in Downtown Forsyth, and was greeted by a faint bell ringing and cackling from her friends when she arrived. The women were dressed in witches gear, rode their bikes, and fulfilled the dream of finally hosting a witches ride.

Other women in Forsyth got word of the witches ride, and asked to participate in the next event. The inaugural event took place in 2022 and raised $6,000 to benefit United in Pink, the event raised $15,000 in 2023.

Family Care Assistant at United in Pink, Adrienne Latham, says the proceeds are used to enhance the quality of life for the families they serve.

United in Pink offers programs and services to help families and meet the needs of survivors, spouses and children. Support services are free and available to everyone, regardless of diagnosis or stage.

Those attending the 3rd Annual Witches Ride are encouraged to dress in costumes, but it is not required. The registration fee is $30.

There will be raffle prizes, Bless Your Hat pop-up-bar, and live music from DJ Skeet.
