Four Killed in Macon House Fire Honored in Candlelight Vigil

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Friends, neighbors and family members gathered to remember the four killed in a horrific fire Thursday morning.

Hundreds showed up at Countryside Baptist Church in the Lynmore Estates area in macon, to honor Jennifer and Elizabeth Caffee, Wendy Chapman and Holly Tucker–the mother and three daughters who died. Their pastor Rayford Johnson says the girls were a blessing to the congregation, and their mother lived a hard life, but was always hopeful.

He says the girls’ surviving father and brothers are grief-stricken.

“They will come out stronger cause these kids- I’ve seen things they come out stronger in,” says Pastor Johnson. “And I know they’ll come out stronger, they’ll come out very knowledgeable. They will come out with a greater love. It’s not God’s fault, the conditions that we are having in these old houses out here, the wiring most escape from the back door. I mean these just have 2 front doors. There was no escape.”

The pastor led the crowd in prayer for the family of the deceased.

Brandon Caffee, Scott Caffee, and James Tucker are all out of the hospital.. And are expected to make a speedy recovery.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
