MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In advance of the voter registration deadline, the Helping Others Foundation of Georgia has collaborated with several organizations, including “Black Voters Matter” as well as the Macon Bibb County Solicitor-General’s Office, to organize its third annual Warrant and Record Restriction Clinic Event.
It will take place at the Rosa Jackson Community Center, located at 1211 Maynard Street, this Saturday from 10 a.m. 2 p.m., the event aims to assist individuals with traffic violations and misdemeanor warrants in getting their records expunged, allowing them to participate in the upcoming election.
According to Kim White, the Bibb County office will assess warrants and records for potential expungement.
“The Macon Bibb County Solicitor’s Office will actually look at these warrants as well as what’s on your record for expungement,” White said. “They will see what they can do to help you to get them reduced or removed.”
While you still may be responsible for some of the ticket, the amount will be reduced significantly. The event will provide support for individuals seeking to reinstate their licenses.
More than 100 people have already registered for the event. The organizers also say walk-ins are welcome, and attendees should not fear arrest while participating in the event.
